Description
Siamese Algae Eater (SAE) is a freshwater fish up to 6 inches long, characterized by a slender, olive-brown body and a prominent black horizontal stripe from nose to tail. An omnivorous diet, including black beard algae, makes them excellent aquarium cleaners.

Coloration: Slender, elongated body with an olive-brown or brownish-beige hue.
Distinctive Stripe: A bold black horizontal stripe runs from the snout to the tail, sometimes with small dark spots along the sides.
Body Shape: Torpedo-shaped, with clear or slightly tinted fins.
Moustaches: Possesses small rostral barbels or moustaches.
Specifications & Care
Diet: Primarily algae (especially black beard algae), but also omnivorous, eating flakes, blanched vegetables, and small invertebrates.
Tank Size: Minimum of 75 litters (20 gallons), with larger tanks recommended.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 74-78°F (23-26°C).

Key Considerations
Lid:
A tight-fitting aquarium lid is essential as these fish can jump out of the tank.
Plant Safety:
They generally do not eat healthy aquarium plants but may nibble if algae is sparse in their diet.
Tankmates:
Peaceful with most community fish but avoid similar-looking species like Red Tailed Sharks.
