Description
Bloody Mary shrimp are a deep-red variety of the freshwater Neocaridina davidi shrimp, known for their vibrant, opaque red body tissue and shorter rostrum compared to red cherry shrimp. They are peaceful, social scavengers that thrive in stable freshwater conditions within a 10-gallon tank or larger, with recommended water parameters being a temperature of 70-80°F (21-27°C), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and low nitrate levels.
Care & Setup
- Tank Setup: Provide live plants, rocks, and moss for hiding and a natural environment.
- Substrate: Use fine gravel or sand to protect their delicate bodies.
- Filtration: A good filter is necessary to maintain water quality.
- Feeding: A diet of high-quality shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and occasional blanched vegetables is ideal.
