Description

Neon Tetras are small, peaceful, schooling freshwater fish known for their vibrant, iridescent blue and red stripes and are ideal for beginners.  . Due to their social nature, they should be kept in groups of six or more to promote natural behaviour and well-being.

Scientific Name: Paracheirodon innesi

Appearance: A shimmering blue stripe along their back, with a red stripe below, and a silvery-white belly.

Size: 1.5–2 inches (3.8–5 cm)

Temperament: Peaceful and social, requiring companionship.

Diet: Omnivorous; they eat fish flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, and freeze-dried bloodworms.

Tank & Water Conditions

Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons (38 litters), but a larger tank with more swimming space is recommended.

Temperature: 68–80°F (20–27°C)

pH: 5.0–7.0

Water Type: Freshwater; they prefer soft, acidic, and blackwater environments with plenty of plants.

Care & Behaviour

Social Behaviour:

They are schooling fish, so it’s best to keep them in groups of six or more to prevent stress and promote natural schooling behaviour.

Tank Setup:

Heavily planting the tank is beneficial, as it enhances their coloration and provides a more natural environment.
